Helen "MISSRED" Berkun
creates photographic images for advertising campaigns, boutiques,
galleries and modeling agencies in the Chicago land area. Using an
ultra-vivid palette, Helen reinvents visual cues from pop culture with
an aim to capture consumer imaginations. Her clients include EFFEN
Vodka, BELL, Akira, Threadless Designs, I See France, MILK Magazine,
Buffalo Magazine, Venus Magazine, Pistil Magazine, SIXOSIX Magazine,
Playboy, and many others.
Born in Mariupol, Ukraine, into a
family of photographers, painters and fashion designers, Helen moved to
the United States and began her formal training in photography. Helen
studied at Columbia College Chicago where she received her degree in
Fine Art. The heart of her work has been and continues to be conceptual
self-portraiture. This venture into self and the rigors of
picture-making has evolved into a distinctive and rich mix of visual
story telling, fashion and sexuality.
Helen is experienced in
commercial and fine art photography for the fashion, commercial, and
runway industry. Her goal is always to produce clean, fresh, radical
images for her clientele. Helen flows freely between the studio and on
location as her projects dictate. She shoots large and medium format in
order to achieve a high degree of depth and detail in her images.
Helen�s strong technique forms the foundation of images that are highly
stylized, sometimes disturbing, yet always moving.
