SUPPLIES
A few basic bottles of liquor should suffice. Be sure to have Scotch, Vodka, Bourbon, Brandy, Gin, Sweet and Dry Vermouth.

Include - ice, half-and-half, bitters, tomato juice, sugar, salt & pepper

Fruit - as needed - might include limes, lemons, maraschino cherries, cocktail, and onions.

Mixes - a few bottles of soda, tonic, ginger ale.

Glassware is important to the totality of the cocktail experience. Invest in a few old-fashioned glasses (solid, six-to-ten-ounce-tumblers), collins or highball glasses (reasonably large, eight to twelve ounces), wine glasses (for the cream drinks), a few cognac snifters, and stem glasses (for those martinis taken straight up).

MEASURING
Following are several approximations commonly used in drink recipes:

1 pony = 1 ounce
1 jigger (shot) = 1 1/2 ounces
1 dash = 1/6 teaspoon
1 teaspoon = 1/8 ounce
1 tablespoon = 1/2 ounce
